 The Yoga, ancient Indian way of life and a strong connection to nature transform your life into a more thoughtful way. Experienced practitioners in this discipline will guide you in this new path which helps you to realize yourself and attain a sound mind in healthy body.

We offer Yoga, natural food and meditation workshops in Indian villages. Apart from this spiritual journey you can help your hand with farmers in their agricultural field, teach children at their village school, volunteer work in our community development programmes and explore the village culture and nature through treks and trails.

Village Experience

Be it an adventure enthusiast, a foodie, a pilgrim or so on, everyone gets an apt destination to enjoy the vacation here. The real India can only be witnessed by visiting its beautiful villages. Village tour to India takes the traveler up-close to the indigenous and diverse cultures that are radiant for so many years. There are festivals, street marches and community kitchens held to mark religious events and everyone gets involved.

ITINERARY

What follows is a general flow of events. Expect the unexpected and prepare to be flexible.

DAY 1

  • Pick up from Cochin airport to the Yoga center in Alathur, Palakkad.
  • Rest, relax and go for a walk to the river side in the evening or do a small shopping at the small town of Alathur.

DAY 2 – Alathur Yoga Ashram

A place where you experience the importance of  Yoga and a strong connection to nature that can act as the missing part to transform Non Violence and Peace with the Nature of which we are a part of . Also , how Yoga and meditation can act as a medium to understand more about natural healing methods.

  • Wake up before Sun rise and start cleansing process (nose wash, eye wash etc;) followed by a natural/herbal drink
  • Watch Sun rise
  • An introduction to yoga
  • The first Yoga session starts at 7.30 AM.
  • Prepare traditional Kerala lunch together.

DAY 3 – Alathur Yoga Ashram

  • Wake up by 6 AM and start cleansing process followed by a herbal drink
  • Yoga session starts at 7 AM, Session on Origin of Yoga
  • In the evening, watch sunset from the nearby hills and a temple visit.

DAY 4- Alathur Yoga Ashram

  • Wake up by 6 AM and start cleansing process followed by a herbal drink
  • Yoga session starts at 7 AM, Session on Self Realization- What it is ? by understanding Buddha
  • Evening dinner for guests will be at a different house in the neighborhood, with the host family

DAY 5 – Alathur Yoga Ashram

  • Wake up by 6 AM and start cleansing process followed by a herbal drink
  • Yoga session starts at 7 AM, Session on Peace and Non Violence by understanding Gandhi.
  • Evening temple visit.

DAY 6 –  Alathur Yoga Ashram

  • Wake up by 6 AM and start cleansing process followed by a herbal drink
  • Yoga session starts at 7 AM,
  • Session on Ayurveda, Visiting Santhigiri Ayurveda College,  or  one day silence, guided meditation.
  • Ayurvedic Massage
  • An ayurvedic massage helps eliminate toxins through purification, strengthens the muscle tone, relaxes and rejuvenates the body

DAY 7 – Travel to Waynad (Trikkaipatta)

  • Travel to Wayanad to experience Kabani’s community based sustainable tourism programmes
  • Interact with Kabani team and discuss about different aspects of sustainable tourism

DAY 8 – Trikkaipatta, Waynad

  • Guided Village Walk
  • Interaction with working women at Bag units and pickle unit (To learn about the women entrepreneurial challenges & activities)
  • Visit Uravu Bamboo Craft Center
  • Interaction with women artisans

Try your hands at Bamboo Craft (Try weaving, use your craft skills or aquire it)

DAY 9 – Trikkaipatta, Waynad

  • Local Sightseeing (Edakkal caves, Muthunga wild life sanctury, Soochipara water falls)
  • Ayurveda Massage
  • Culinary exchange (Cooking Indian dishes together with hostess)

Experience local flavors and learn Indian recipes.

DAY 10 –  Mothakkara , Waynad

Travel to Mothakkara , a beautiful village at the foothills of Banasura hills.

  • Village walk  with Women guide to learn about the place, it’s people, culture and agriculture practices.
  • Visit a Chocolate making unit and Nutri powder making unit
  • Experience traditional pot making and try your hands at pottery
  • Traditional Drum Play by women group (Vanitha Shinkari Melam)

DAY 11 – Mothakkara, Waynad

  • Tea tour at Priyadarshini Tea Estate; Tea tour- plucking tea leaves, visiting tea estate, learn the history of tea, current market issues, tea processing, tea tasting etc.

DAY 12  – Travel to Kozhikode

  • On the way, Explore Peruvannamuzhi dam site.
  • Kappad Beach
  • Relax at Beach front cottage.

DAY 13 – Kozhikode

  • Guided trip to the historic city of Calicut
  • Visit to K M Museum
  • The Mosque Tro-Mishkal  Mosque , Muchundi Mosque and Jumayath Mosque few the oldest in Malabar, is an important cultural, historical and architectural monument in Kerala.
  • Lunch at the famous women entrepreneur Restaurant and interaction with her (Delicious traditional muslim cuisine).
  • The Uru (traditional wooden ship) making units in Beypore
  • Country boat trip through the mangrove forests of Kadalundi bird sanctuary.

DAY 14 – Kozhikode

  • Taxi drop to Railway station
  • Departure to Kochi by train
