Lurking in the back bays and grassy sloughs, Northern pike patiently wait to ambush their pray. Being the fastest accelerating fish in the world provides great sport for anglers young and old. Having 702 teeth necessitates a wire leader and a strong hook set to land these violent predators. Even their wake will intimidate the most hardened pike fisherman. Just be careful, we have seen 40″ pike lurking in the mud.

What follows is a general flow of events. Expect the unexpected and prepare to be flexible.
You’ll depart Anchorage via Alaska Air Transit’s bush Grand CaravanEX airplane. The 75 minute flight will take you up and over the majestic Alaska Range. This flight will give you opportunities to view and photograph the range. Once you arrive in the village of McGrath, a local representative will meet you in the lobby of Hotel McGrath. You’ll have some time to get settled in your room before a trip briefing and gear check in the lobby, followed by a hearty and delicious dinner served at the hotel’s restaurant. The midnight sun shines brightly in McGrath so you’ll have the evening hours to explore the village and it’s friendly residents.
Your Alaskan fishing adventure begins! We’ll load up the gear and head out on the river in a motorized river boat. Your guide will transport you to some of the most promising areas to catch an Alaskan-sized monster pike. You’ll also have the opportunity to fish for other species, such as grayling, salmon and sheefish. If you plan to return to McGrath that evening, a generously packed sack lunch will be available to take with you. You might want to spend some of your time hiking and exploring the great Alaskan wilderness. You’ll be surrounded by moose, bears, beavers, eagles and many other critters. We’ll move from the Kuskokwim River to the Takotna and Nixon Rivers and various sloughs and lakes in the area. A fish cutting station will be available to clean your catch each evening. Wax boxes are also available to ship your fish home.
Say goodbye to the local Alaskans, where you’ve made many friends and even more amazing memories. Catch the morning flight to Anchorage where you can spend a day or two exploring Alaska’s biggest village before heading home.
